Eternal Guidefeatured

Amazingly this this painting has the same title as today’s mini-devotional: Eternal Guide! It is based on Psalm 25:4-6.

“Show me your ways, Lord,
    teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.”

I have been known to spend more time praying for God to bless my plans than earnestly seeking his plans.  Sound at all familiar to you?  Find some more food for thought in Psalm 146:3-5, Proverbs 16:1-3 and Mark 8:34-36.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Think of a time (or two) when you prayed fervently for God to bless your plans. How did God ultimately reveal his plans for you? How have you applied your learnings from that experience to your life?
  2. Sometimes it helps us to acknowledge that God’s plans are better and more trustworthy than our own. Verbalize some attributes of God that reveal that his plans are better than yours!
  3. Surrendering to God’s plans is often not a “once and done” task. Our fickle hearts call us back to our own ideas.  Think of some tangible ways you can include surrender into your daily spiritual practices.

May God bless you as you surrender to his wonderful plans for you!
